Rooster Fighter

Rooster Fighter is a manga created by a guy who had a pet chicken that got turned into Asian KFC. It's about a rooster named Keiji who lives in a world where humans can turn into demons taller than buildings when they experience strong negative emotions (anger, greed, envy, etc.), and become very destructive, although in Vol. 2 some demons are actually quite benign. Keiji had his sister eaten by a demon with a particular mark on his neck, so he goes around fighting demons with his bird parkour and finishes them with his cries that cause their flesh to rupture, looking for a demon with the mark of the one that ate his sister. Starting at the end of Volume 1 he's followed around by this female chick he later names Piyoko, who was kept as pet by a guy who tried to make money by selling chicks. He got turned into a demon himself, but ended up being the first to survive Keiji's screech. Then in Volume 2 Keiji ends up also being followed by a hen named Elizabeth who wields an electric rod and wants to kill Keiji for dumping her after what he thought was a one-night stand (Keiji sometimes give in to his instincts while on the move looking for demons). Things of course get more complicated for Keiji (because of course they do) when Piyoko tells Elizabeth that she has a crush on Keiji, so Elizabeth thinks Keiji's a pedophile. Because of course.

Not gonna lie, that's what cut my interest in half for this manga. I don't like Elizabeth at all, though her knowledge of human technology does help Keiji. But I don't know. I guess I'm just tired of the whole heroes traveling with a team thing, even thing I can't think of any stories right now that involve a solo hero except the first arc of Pokemon Adventures, even though Red did often team up with Blue or Green. But I especially hate the whole misunderstanding/miscommunication cliche, and the cliche of traveling with people you can't get along with. But I think the concept of a rooster fighting giant demons, and the series is on its 8th or 9th volume, so I'll get back into it some time in the future, but for now I've got other manga I'm more concerned about collecting.
