ТОВАРИЩИ! It is with great pleasure that I inform you that the Mosin-Nagant, variant M91/30, which I have long desired now, has been secured for me! It took a good bit of convincing my mother, she was on the fence. She wanted to make sure 580 was a fair price for that gun. Well I'd say it is. It's a famous gun, the guy who helped us dry fired it, so it works, and I was expecting it to be at least 1100 bucks. Mom even had me drive to another gun store we've been to to check out their prices. The only thing 3000 was a 500-something dollar .22 skeleton rifle, which I couldn't figure out how you're supposed to load. So we went back today and she filled out the paper work and went through the background check and she passed! But we have to wait 10 days to take this gun home. Oh but I can't take it home next Friday, oh no. That's 10 business days, so it doesn't include weekends and federal holidays. So I have to wait longer before this gun, which I will affectionately name Мосинка, can come home.
Why tho? Well, it's this thing called a deferment. It's nothing against the buyer, but it's supposedly meant to prevent someone from buying a gun on a whim. It's to keep someone who's so angry that they want to kill from immediately getting a gun, so by the time they do get the gun they've calmed down or something. Something like that. Which is dumb. Even if I bought a gun on a whim, I'd still take it. And what if someone needs a gun? What if maybe a woman has a violent ex who isn't afraid to violate restraining orders? I'm a Blue Live Matter guy, but I know the police aren't 100% reliable. If that woman is afraid for her life, why should she be deprived of her right to protect herself? If she feels the need to get a gun, and get it immediately, she might resort to illegally getting a gun. It's not a like situation, but it's probably more likely than some other moral dilema hypotheticals people pose. In all reality this deferment period is some stupid bullshit imposed to make politicians feel better about themselves.
Whatever. At least I finally got it. Now I need to get ammo for it, and that will most likely have to be bought online. But when I bring it home, Mom says I can't tell my father, because even though it's my money and not his, he might have a fit. So I probably shouldn't shoot it at home. Oh well. At least I can hide Mosinka in my room, tucked away in its case under the bed with all the others. Maybe I'll bring it out and cuddle up with it in bed.
Anyway, I went thrift shopping Saturday, along with the bookstore, and among other things I got a Mossy Oak camo shirt and a camo backpack, which I will show off sometime. I still need to take pics of all my guns and gear to put on here.
