What the hell is Grudge Metal?
Grudge metal is a totally awesome brand new up-and-coming subgenre of metal rock created by ME, HARRIS KRIEGMAN!! I came up with the name because “grudge” sounds similar to “grunge”, which is a metal subgenre that already exists, and because the word “grudge” just sounds so damn cool!
Grudge metal is characterized by songs with themes of anger, resentment, revenge, spite, depression, destruction, violence, death and despair, and plenty of other dark shit — feelings and thoughts that stem from experiences with trauma, abuse, neglect, bullying and abandonment. Now you might be thinking, ‘Oh! Cool! So have you written any songs yet?’ Hell no. Of course I haven't! I’ll only come up with some super kick-ass band names and song titles; I'm shit at writing poetry and coming up with melodies!
If you want me to write any poetry that ain't free verse, then you're shit out of luck! I suppose I could cheat and write free-verse lyrics and make the music a bunch of uncoordinated white noise, and maybe that would be a cool thing to experiment with, but honestly only a damn philistine would listen to that and not go ‘OK, that was cool to experiment with, be rebellious and all, but can't you start coming up with any damn melodies for fuck’s sake?’ And ain't that fair? That's what I would think. What's a fucking musician if he doesn't have any damn appreciation for the time and thought his fellow artists put into making music that sounds good?
